Unlock the building blocks of missions to gain an understanding of the practical and doable task of missions
Together with The Bible and Missions and Roles in Frontier Missions, this course forms an in-depth overview of the world of missions.
This module gives an overview of missions history, but it is not about cold historical facts and dates, it is more of an exploratory journey through important missions events through history. Through missionary testimonies the learner should realise that God uses ordinary people to accomplish His plans, and that many have served sacrificially through the ages.
This module looks at the status of Christianity in the world — where God is working today, and who the Unreached People Groups that have not yet received the gospel are. These are the people who will live their entire lives and never have an opportunity to hear the gospel. The module also explains the task that still remains for the Body of Christ today. You’ll also learn about some surprising places where God is working today. This knowledge should help you with your journey into further involvement with missions.
This module looks at the challenges missionaries face. These challenges include preparing to go to the missions field, raising financial and prayer support, the challenges around visas and work permits, and the spiritual challenges they face. The module encourages prospective missionaries to count the cost and be prepared to step out in faith, trusting God to bring them through triumphantly. It also gives missionary supporters a better idea of what their partners face.
Even though these challenges may seem overwhelming, it encourages prospective missionaries to count the cost and be prepared to step out in faith, trusting God to bring them through triumphantly.
The last module looks at how good missions strategy can help overcome the challenges mentioned in the previous module. The module covers the broad goals of all missions, and the kinds of strategies missionaries use.
The module answers questions like “Is strategy biblical?”, and “Does making plans not go against the leading of the Holy Spirit?”, and more.
Learning from existing strategies will help learners formulate unique strategies for reaching the remaining Unreached People Groups.

The course is self-paced, and you can go through the content at your own pace when you choose to do so. There are four modules. They consist of videos, discussion opportunities, and other activities.
There are short multiple choice quizzes after most videos. These are intended to help you process and understand the material, not to serve as “tests” or exams.
In order to get a certificate for the course, you have to complete each of the four assessments, one at the end of each module. Each assessment consists of a multiple-choice quiz.
Please note that most of the video transcripts have been machine-translated and will contain language errors. We are actively looking for volunteers to translations. If you are interested in volunteering, please click here
Please take a moment to introduce yourself to other learners using the course’s Discussion Forum.
Again, thank you so much for joining us in this course. We hope you will enjoy it, and hear God’s voice as you progress.
