Didasko Missions Academy

About 'Understanding Muslims - for the sake of the Gospel'

If you are serious about befriending Muslims and showing them the way to God's Kingdom, this is the course for you.

Understanding how Muslims view and experience the world will help you learn to love them better, and to be able minister to them in love.

This course consists of ten modules, described below.

Module 1: The founding of Islam

The module introduces you to the Islamic world. Here you will learn more about Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. Some of the myths Christians believe about Muslims is explained, as is God's love for Muslims.

Module 2: The Expansion of Islam

Because their history is so important to Muslims, you have to understand where they come from. It is important for you to learn how they see their history.

The module covers the early years of Islam, Muhammad in Medina and Mecca, how it expanded beyond Arabia and became the superpower of the day. You will also learn about Islam's contribution to civilization.

Module 3: The Five Pillars of Islam and Islamic beliefs

Understand the practices and beliefs of Muslims as seen from their perspective.

This includes the Five Pillars of Islam, and belief in Allah, Angels, Books, Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and in Divine Decree.

Module 4: Muslims Today

Learn how important the Islamic Ummah and community is to them, about honour and shame culture, and the tawhid or unity of God. You will also see how ethnically divese Islam is, and you will learn about the different categories of Muslims.

Then you will learn about Jihad, politics and faith, the Quran, dreams and visions, and much more.

Module 5: The Everyday Life of Muslims

Here you wil learn about what life is like to live in an Islamic society: family and social life, cultural practices, and more.

You will also learn about what happens during the fasting month of Ramadan, and on Eid al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. Furthermore you'll learn about the life cycle events in a Muslim community, and how Muslim-Background Believers (MBBs) relate to their families.

Module 6: The Spiritual World of Muslims

To love Muslims, you will need to understand how they experience the spiritual world as well as the wide spectrum of Islamic beliefs you will encounter.

You will learn about the importance of 'what works' versus 'what is true', and about Holy places, people, objects, times and practices. In addition, you'll learn about good and bad fortune and Sufi Muslims.

To communicate the gospel to them effectively, you'll learn how important Charles Krafts' three encounters are and about Jesus's superiority over spiritual powers and beings.

You'll learn about the effect of culture on your ministry, and how to minister to MBBs.

Module 7: Barriers We Must Cross

To relate to Muslims in a way that will introduce them to the love of Jesus, there are certain barriers you will have to overcome.

The barriers include your own mindset and attitude, your appearance, communication style, and terminology. Also, their culture serves as a barrier, as do their families, community and sense of unity.

Module 8: Theological Issues Muslims Face

Nabeel Qureshi shares his personal journey from being a dedicated Muslim to following Jesus, discussing all the theological issues he faced on the journey.

Module 9: Approaches to Outreach

Are we to be bold or sensitive in our outreach to Muslims? What practices are most likely to result in seeing Muslims come to love Jesus? Where do we even start? This module answers these questions and more.

Module 10: Disciple-Making Movements (DMM)

This module looks at how we can make reproducible disciples in our community in such a way to start a movement towards Christ.
